Based on Emerson’s insight, it really is about us. How we are made, what we think, what we believe, how we act and react. In this current time of immense difficulty where we have almost no control over the things outside of our homes, we do have full control of ourselves.
We can only control our actions and reactions to the situation. We can choose to look for someone to help or encourage, we can choose to try to grow and improve ourselves in this down time. We can choose to pour into spouses, family and our relationships. We might choose to play games, have some fun, enjoy this brief moment in history where there is really no place to go. OR, we can shrink back and focus inward and dwell on the challenges, the uncertainty and buy into the fear that can so quickly overcome us.
I say let’s look deep within and know that with a little prayer and a small amount of faith things will get better and we can choose to focus on the good things and good people around us and make some lemonade with this giant pile of lemons being thrown at us.
