Clarity

I have a new book “Clarity” coming out later this year so I wanted to share a few thoughts of things to consider when trying to move from where we are to where we want/ hope to be. These 6 steps not only apply to business but also to your personal journey.

  1. Why do we exist? What are your gifts, talents, passions as an individual and how do you maximize those talents to impact the world? What are you trying to accomplish as a company or business? What impact in the world are we trying to make through what we do??
  2. How do we behave? What are the values we use to manage our lives or our organization? What are the values we want to live out personally but also what we want everyone on our team to to display? How do you hire the right people or do business with the right clients if we do not know what values are important for our organization??
  3. What do we do? What should I be doing with my life through my gifts and passions? How should I be impacting the world around me? What do we do as a company? Do we create homes where families create memories? Do we strive to inspire hope in everyone we work with? What impact do we make in the world through what we produce?? Are we the best in the world at what we do?
  4. How will we succeed? How do we know what impact we are making? What metrics are we measuring and reviewing that show us how we are doing or what we need to change or correct?? How do we know if we are succeeding? Where do we want to be and where are we? What do we need to change to succeed?
  5. What is most important right now? Are the most important things in your life, in your department or in your company, on the top of your task list? Will you be working on the most important things to move you or your organization forward or will you just check a bunch of boxes of hundreds of random task that need to be completed? Head down, just working really hard?
  6. Who must do what? Do you know what you need to do to move forward? Does everyone on your team know what they are suppose to do and very clear on why they do their job and how it impacts the organization?? Or, do we assume they know and we get frustrated by lack of results and focus??

You got this! Carve out some time this week to unpack each question and take some notes on changes or additions you need to make in your journey and then get started. The page you write on tomorrow is blank so start writing your new future and go change the world!!
