Great line from Pastor Michael Shreve.
“If the grass looks greener over there, maybe you need to water over here.”
What an insightful thought. I know I have been guilty of looking over at other companies, other churches, other departments and other employees, when I should have been focused on what I was doing. Do we really think it is so much better at the next place? Don’t we realize the reason they are usually hiring is because somebody left! I’m pretty sure that the new place will not have the same problems as your last place but they usually don’t tell you about all the problems you will have at this new place that your last place did not have.
But beside all of that, maybe I should try to do my best where I’m at? Maybe serve, encourage, go the extra mile, read, grow, invest and try to make my job, my department, my church, or my company a place where I want to stay. Instead of focusing on the 10% bad all the time maybe try focusing on the 90% good and trying to make that 90% go up even higher.
“If the grass looks greener over there, maybe you need to water over here.” Let’s try working in our yard first. Water, fertilizer and some TLC and see what kind of results we might get?
