Faith

Persistence through great disappointments often prepares us for great opportunities.

Pastor Mo Huggins, Mountain West Church

Heard this amazing quote Sunday and wanted to share it. I know for me, I struggle sometimes seeing the bigger picture as I’m walking through difficult times. Sometimes what we are going through is the needed step or the needed process that helps us take our next step toward the destiny we are reaching for. I am learning to ask myself, “What do I need to be learning from this difficulty?” Over the last several years I have started to realize that life is a series of lessons that I am introduced to, to help me learn and grow toward my next level. If I can stay aware and learn while moving forward, my impact on my company, team and family can continue to grow as well.

We need to believe and have a little faith that this current reality will pass and hopefully, no matter how difficult, we will be better for it. Just because we cannot see how it will happen, does not mean we should not believe it will happen. The news that bombards us every day is not creating this exciting level of hope and trust that amazing times are ahead but that does not matter. We are called to manage ourselves and the world that surrounds us. You do know that despite the bad news we hear everyday that your 2023 could be the best year you have ever had. Yes, it will take hard work and focus, but it will also take clarity, buy in, leadership, trust and a little faith.

Here are a few suggestions to get you started toward what could be your best year ever!

  1. Take some time this month to reflect. How was 2022? Sales. Profits. Margins. Overhead. Budget vs. actuals. How does your P&L look?
  2. What worked really well in 2022?
  3. What did not work so well and we need to address, change and improve in 2023?
  4. What do you want to achieve in 2023? Be very specific. Sales. Starts. Closings. Cycle time. Customer satisfaction. Improved margins. Lower overhead. New efficiencies and processes. New divisions. New business opportunities.
  5. What do you need to do in the next 90 days to start moving toward your 2023 goals? Everyone on the team should have 2 or 3 specific tasks to help the company move forward.
  6. Identify the top 3 to 5 issues that are holding your company back and start meeting weekly to address and solve. What is the issue? What is the cause? How can we solve it? Create task list and take the next 2 weeks and solve it!!

You got this! Let’s make 2023 this best year ever despite what the news is telling us! Remember, Faith sees problems not as obstacles. but as opportunities. Let’s pivot, change and plan and run toward an amazing 2023!
