Diligence. Phase One. Prep Work

It’s the diligent farmer who gets the produce. 

What a great quote and how appropriate for the current world we are living in. With the bombardment of bad news we receive on a daily basis, it is getting more and more difficult to keep the faith that a better day is coming. But the farmer is a great example of hard work, faith, and hope.

As we know, a famer must do a lot of prep work to get ready for planting season. (We could stop right there and unpack an entire lesson, but let’s press on.) The “Getting Ready” is step one in producing great results. As I have mentioned in previous blogs, we sometimes get very frustrated with our people, church, or company for lack of results. We are expecting much bigger results or impacts but we just are not seeing them? What did the prep work look like? What have you or your team been working on to get ready to plant?

I have the privilege of coaching several custom home building companies across the country and our recent shift in the market has pushed us to get back to the hard work of building and selling. We had some unbelievable easy years of demand that lulled us into a false security of “Build Them and They Will Come.” But everything has changed. We now need to get back to basics. We need to get back to our prep work. What are we building? Why? What is our sales price and profit margin? Why? Who is our target market and why? Are we advertising? Are we marketing? How good is our website? Do we have a marketing plan and budget? What are sales goals? What are our closing goals? What are our profit goals? We need to spend some serious time getting ready. We need to spend some serious time prepping our business and team for great results!!

You reap ONLY what you sow! You DO NOT reap what you do not sow! Let’s start 2023 out getting our prep work and ground work in place for an amazing 2023 and beyond.
