A new philosophy might be, put staff first, your customer second and shareholders and profits third. Results, shareholders and profits do well, customers do better, employees are happier so you are happier. Culture Works by Kris Boesch
Wow, I’m pretty sure I grew up throughout my career thinking the customer is always right and the most important. Usually making money was a close second and you guessed it, employees were something we had to have and we hope we can get some good ones.
I never really agreed with those philosophies to be honest with you. If you can engage your employees, get to know them, understand their gifts and passions, and give them something to do that can make a difference and they can be proud of and you let them know what a good job they are doing and how proud of them you are, you will get to their heart. And as Mark Miller says in “The Heart of Leadership” if you get to an employees heart you get all of them at work.
Yep, that is what we need, fully engaged people on our teams. Fired up about what they do and loving the job because they feel appreciated and they are making a difference!
