Our actions show who we really are not who we say we are.
Have you ever heard a parent say “just do what I say”? Maybe it was about not smoking or not drinking or watching your language even though they are doing all of these things. Don’t do as I do, do as I say. Have you ever had a boss tell you what you should be doing and why it is so important and then watch what they spend money on or how they treat an employee or customer?
Our actions speak so much louder that our words. If you want to be a great leader. A great boss. A great parent or friend then do and act like you would want the other person to do or act toward you. The Golden Rule says “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. You will never fully engage your children, your coworkers or your team if you speak out of both sides of your mouth. We must demonstrate in our actions and behaviors our beliefs. We must demonstrate in our actions and behaviors what is really important. We will never reach the full impact of relationship, productivity or profitability if we tell people to do what I say not do what I do. Make sure your actions are aligned with your beliefs and goals.
