Adding Value

Adding value. I’m sure all the company owners I’m currently coaching would love ro have everyone on the team maximizing their impact and adding value. So, why aren’t all of my team members maximizing their impact and adding value. I think there are five things we can do to increase the impact of everyone on our team.

  1. Job description: Make sure everyone on your team has a written and clear job description. They need to know exactly what you expect of them in their position on the team.
  2. Right Seat: Make sure they GWC. (Get It. Want It. Capacity to Do It.) Get the job and what you are asking them to do. Want the job and can’t wait to get started. Based on their resume, references, job history, experience and education it looks like they have the capacity to do the job and do it well.
  3. Why: Make sure everyone on the team knows the WHY. Why is what they are doing so important to the team and the results of our company? Make sure they understand how their job, and the results of their job, contribute to the overall impact of the organization. Make sure they understand how what they do impacts the jobs of everyone around them.
  4. The Win: Make sure everyone understands when they are winning. How will each team member know if they are doing a great job? Make sure everyone knows when they are crushing it or when their results are falling off.
  5. Notice: Be intentional about catching people doing things right and say thank you. Catch people doing a good job and say thank you. Thank people if they come and make suggestions on how to improve their job, their team or their area. Remember to say Thank You!

Reminder, our jobs as owners, leaders and managers, is to create and maintain environment’s where our people can thrive. As we start 2023, let’s start taking the steps to get everyone on our team maximizing their impact and adding value.
