Change

Change is hard.

Change really makes some people super nervous and frustrated. It is so much easier just to keep things like they have always been but if you are not changing, growing and moving forward you are sliding backwards. Change is hard.

I’m currently reading “The Secret of Teams” by Mark Miller and discovered a great formula to help manage change successfully. You must have Motivation along with Information and add in Assistance to have a shot at creating the change you feel is needed. (https://vimeo.com/121156142)

People need to to understand the “Why” which will help Motivate them to accept the changes. If we understand where we are going and the impact the change will make it will make the transition easier. They need Information so they can have clarity on where we are going and how we are going to get there. The details help give clarity on what things might look like and what I need to do to start making the changes needed. They need Assistance as they begin to embrace and execute the changes. Allow some grace as the team slowly begins to make the changes. We may stumble or get discouraged because Change is Hard. When the change gets really challenging go back to the basics, Motivation, Information and Assistance!
