I heard a great statement last night while watching a show on Netflix. “If you are not happy with the way things are, change your picture.” Wow, that really hit home. It is amazing the things that can impact you coming from the most unusual places.
The story was about a young doctor who was trying to pursue the life she had always envisioned in her mind. She was very careful about who she dated, who she would hang around, how close she would get to her patience. She was pretty sure this small town job was a brief moment in her life that would be over in a minute and she would be back on target achieving the really amazing life she had pictured in her mind. The advice she got was amazing. Basically you better start living now. You better take advantage of today. You better not keep waiting before you jump in with both feet because you are afraid you might mess up your real life. Change your picture. Tremendous advice. I think if we are not careful we will wake up one day and ask ourselves when will I arrive. When will my life really turn around like I had hoped and planned. My suggestions is start living the life you have to the fullest.
How can you maximize where you are today? How can you re frame or change your picture? How can you make the most of your opportunities/ situations today?? We are not promised tomorrow. So, get up and go after it. Enjoy the journey. enjoy the friends, enjoy the job. Keep growing. Keep pushing. Keep moving forward but also try to enjoy the ride. I have a statement I use to remind myself to enjoy the ride. Bobby, enjoy life like a dog. Run, chase sticks, eat, get some water, go take a nap, climb up in a lap and just enjoy sitting together. Trust more. Worry less.
Great line from an amazing movie, “Shawshank Redemption”. Andy Dufresne is falsely accused and imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. After years in prison he decided he would break out. He shares with his prison mate Red about where he will go and what he will do when he gets out. Red said, “Be careful Andy, hope is a dangerous thing.” Andy says, “we either get busy living or we get busy dying.” That’s the line. “get busy living or get busy dying.” So let’s get busy living!! You got this. Add a little hope to your situation, change your picture and start making the most out of where you are and how you can maximize and enjoy the journey. You got this! You can do it!
