Ever think that your journey and your story could be used to change someone’s life?
I realize most of the time as we go through struggles, sometime significant, that we usually end up focusing on our situation, our challenges and our struggles. But, what if your journey could be a catalyst for change in someone else’s life around you.
I heard a statement at church, “Share your Story”. ( mwchurch.com) Consider that your journey may not only be a catalyst for change in your life but someone else’s life around you as well.
3 thoughts that jumped out at me were:
- Become aware
- Show you care
- Be ready to share
It’s so amazing that great leadership and creating great teams and great organizations consist of these 3 simple thoughts. A great book by Mark Miller, “Chess not Checkers”, ask us in leadership, in management, in ministry to Reach The Heart! In other words, what we do everyday is more than a job, a paycheck, a place I have to go to everyday to get money to pay my bills, but an opportunity to inspire, challenge, or encourage someone on their journey through our story. Our experience, our struggles, our failures and our successes.
Become aware, show you care and then be ready to share, as you work and live everyday! If you want to see amazing things happen in your department, your ministry team, your company or organization find out how your people are doing. Family, relationships, soccer team, sickness, life. Give some empathy, celebrate, encourage, a hug/ fist bump/ a high five if appropriate. ( At work? Yes, show you care and that they are not just employees that help us get it done so we can make money! ) Then, if possible, take a moment to share some things you’ve learned along your journey.
Win the Heart and everything will change!
