“Emotional capacity is the ability to handle adversity, failure, criticism, change, and pressure in a positive way.” John Maxwell
These challenges create a lot of stress in our life. The inability to deal with this stress crushes a lot of us. It freezes us in place. The fear and uncertainty become the loudest voice and we become hesitant and slow to react, act, or move forward. We can find ourselves giving up, breaking down, or even beginning unhealthy behaviors to try to relieve the pressure.
However, if we can begin to grow our emotional capacity and stop listening to all those negative voices and stop focusing on all of the challenges we can begin to manage our emotions through these crisis. This actually helps us to increase our capacity and move toward reaching our full potential.
Homework: Let’s take a few minutes to identify our challenges and write down our fears and struggles and then begin to make decisions to push past and focus on what we can do or how we might make our situations just a little better. Maybe even find someone to help coach or consult with you on your journey. You got this! Go crush it this week.
