Leaders and managers are accountable!

If we count them every week, we are accountable to disciple/ train/ equip them every week? As employers, leaders and managers, if they are on the team, we have responsibility for them and to them.

Wow! Great thought from the Vital Signs Conference in Cleveland, Tenn 2 weeks ago. I think we often forget as leaders and managers that we carry a great load of responsibility for those on our team and placed under our watch. I find that sometimes we think of the people on our team as employees or the people paid or required to accomplish task. While those statements may be true, it does not relieve us from our requirement to help them maximize their efforts!

Do we know them? Have we spent time with them? Do we know their strengths, their weaknesses, their passions, what excites them and revs their motor. Do we know what is going on in their life? Any struggles or challenges? Can we help them? Are we taking the time and putting in the effort to put great systems and processes around them to put them in the best situation possible to exceed, execute and excell?

Do we encourage and cheer them on to go to new levels and achieve and accomplish more than maybe they ever thought they could? If not, let’s take a step back and evaluate how we are managing and leading and take on the task of accountability for those on our team and under our watch!
