Organizational Impact

“In an organization, the physical dimension is expressed in economic terms. The mental or psychological dimension deals with recognition, development and use of talent. The social/ emotional dimension has to do with human relations, and how people are treated. And the spiritual dimension deals with finding meaning through purpose or contribution and through organizational integrity. When an organization neglects any one or more of these areas, it negatively impacts the entire organization. The creative energies that could result in tremendous, positive synergy are instead used to fight against the organization and become restraining forces to growth and productivity.” Stephen Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Wow! This is why great culture trumps other business strategies. As Stephen Covey tells us there are 4 areas of cultural impact that create a powerful vehicle for high powered, high producing organizations:

  1. Physical dimension
  2. Mental/ psychological dimension
  3. Social/ emotional dimension
  4. Spiritual dimension

My challenge to us as individuals, managers, owners and leaders is to look at our current cultural journey to see where we need to change or transition to the place where everyone wants to work. Are we measuring and communicating our results every week or every month to everyone on our team? Do we celebrate when things are going well and we are hitting or exceeding our goals? Are we training our people so they can grow and improve? Do we have genuine concern for our people? Do we ask about their personal journey but also their goals? Are the right people in the right seats? Are they gifted and talented in the area we have them working? Do they know how what they do contributes to the success of the organization??

It may sound overwhelming but we can do this! Let’s take small baby steps in each of these 4 areas over the next 12 months and watch the amazing results you get and the growth of your tribe, your teamwork, your synergy and your results!
