The Results of Challenges

Wow! Another great thought. I’m still reading Great Leaders Grow by Blanchard and Miller and the thought tonight is “Growth is always a result of challenge”.

Incredible that just tonight I was engaged in a conversation about trying to understand how such a great gig, an awesome opportunity was just ripped from his hands. I know, it is incredibly frustrating when all we can see is the wonderful answer to prayer just ripped from our finger tips. But wait, it just got here. What in the world is going on? You know, we may never know.

But, “Growth is always a result of challenge”. So, what I do know is it is  not usually the really easy and mundane things that take us to new levels. It is the frustrating, hard to understand and sometimes brutally difficult situations that can take us to new levels. ( Can! You don’t have to learn anything, you don’t have to push yourself to new levels, just stay where you are. You will probably get stuck trying to learn this lesson over and over again or give up and stay where you are).

“Growth is always a result of challenge”. Maybe try to see what you can learn from the challenge. Maybe bounce your experience off some older folks that you trust. Maybe push on to the next logical thing and keep the challenge hidden away and one day next week, next month or even next year, someone or some situation will walk into your life and you will say “That was Why that happened. Wow this is incredible!”

Stay the course. Chin up. Keep pushing and moving forward because, “Growth is always a result of challenge“.

  1. This is so true. We were talking about this with our developer last week, and she emphasized that she wants us to push her beyond her limits, because when we bring something new to her (that she doesn’t yet know how to do), that’s when she has to dig in, learn, and grow.
