“Everyone who got where they are, started where they were.” John Maxwell from Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn.
Really eye opening thought. I find that I sometimes assume that the person or organization had an amazing opportunity, advantage, or break, to have so much success and for things to be going so well for them. They must have had an amazing, special opportunity. What I fail to realize is they started where they started. Most of the times we see the great results and blessings but we do not see the struggle and the journey. The good book says you reap what you sow, which means those long hours, long days, long months of struggle and effort and pushing forward eventually pay off.
What does that mean for us? First, I need to stop looking at my neighbor, co-worker, competitor and trying to figure out why they got the blessing and focus on what I am called to do. The impact or product I am called to produce and how do I do this better than anyone else. Secondly I need to realize I am usually seeing the results of a long, hard fought journey not just an instant pay off. So what does that mean for us. Let’s get some Clarity. (my new book coming out this fall https://www.choiceconsultingman.com/clarity/) Let’s understand where we are going and what we are trying to achieve. Finally let’s strap in for the long haul. Let’s commit to the difficult journey to amazing and stay the course. We will get there and we will crush it!!!
